The objective of the thesis was to utilize customer understanding and knowledge of the street art-subculture in the development of the commissioner's operations. With the help of the methods from service design helped to gain a broad understanding of the street art collective Mimmit peinttaa’s development needs. The association had a desire to reform and develop its activities. In the thesis, the operating environment, genre, and the actors of the street art field were studied, and customer understanding was gathered. Based on the collected information, the operational challenges were defined more precisely. The commissioner's digital operating environment needed to be renewed to make the development of operations possible. The commissioner's website, which needed renewal, was selected as the development target. Collected customer understanding, and understanding about the subculture was utilized in the UX and UI design. The thesis applied an autoethnographic approach. Focused interviews, observations, and benchmarking were selected as research methods. In addition, preparatory research and netscouting, typical of service design, were used. The preparatory research created a foundation to build a deeper understanding with focused interviews. The content analysis was done using thematization, which was used to identify the challenges, wishes, and needs of the street art collective. The research was extended to benchmarking, which was used to understand how other actors in the field operate in the same operational environment. With the help of an autoethnographic approach and observation, a deep understanding about the users, customers, stakeholders, and the operating environment were gathered. This was a productive thesis. The result was design guidelines and digital prototype for the new website of the Mimmit peinttaa street art collective. The focus of the design was on the usability of the website and the needs of the target group as well as the understanding about the field of street art. Its purpose is to provide clear guidelines for the commissioner so that the website renewal can be completed easily.
