ABSTRACT

Sales invoicing is one of the most important processes in business. It has an effect the whole business activity and liquidity. A smooth sales invoicing process saves time and keeps the cash flow as optimal it as possible. The purpose of the present study was to develop the sales and payroll process at Kotkan Saaret Oy. The goal was to generate the new process flowchart and new procedure for the process of the sales and payroll process. The study was limited to property management field of the company because of the large amount of invoicing material. Despite the limitation result can be applied to other fields of business as well.

The thesis was conducted as a qualitative study and the research material was collected by interviewing the property maintenance specialist and the finance director of the company. The software developers were interviewed as well. Empirical material was collected for the support of the analysis.

As a result, new software that could address almost all the problems and be put into use immediately was found. The new software was compatible with the existing interface. By examining problems in smaller parts, it was possible to create new operating instructions for the employees both in the field and in administration. The same software can be used to log hours electronically and to enter invoicing information into the existing accounting program, which were found to be the most time-saving features of the software.

Especially the timeliness of the invoicing and the automated process will im-prove cash flow and save time.
