Indoor climate requirements of offices in Lithuania and Finland

The subject of this Bachelor’s Thesis is indoor climate requirements of offices in Lithuania and Finland. Good indoor climate in the offices is very important because people spend big part of their life working. Lithuania and Finland has its own regulations and guidelines for indoor climate requirements in their offices.

The main documents, which were analysed for Lithuanian office was HN 69:2003 ”Thermal comfort and adequate thermal environment in workplaces. Normative values of parameters and measurement requirements.” and STR 2.09.02:2005 “Heating, ventilation and air conditioning“. Lithuanian regulations and guidelines“. The main documents, which were analysed for Finnish office was D2 ”Indoor Climate and Ventilation of buildings 2003” and LVI 05-10440en ”Classification of indoor environment 2008”.

The main purpose of thesis was to measure indoor climate parameters (air temperature, relative humidity, air flow rates and CO2 concentration) in two similar offices, one located in Lithuania and another in Finland, to see if they meet Lithuanian or Finnish regulations and guidelines. Another purpose of the thesis was to analyse the requirements and to see what the main differences between them are.

Thesis was based on information of regulations and guidelines, literature and investigations. Discussion is done at the end of the thesis, where measured indoor climate parameters of office in Lithuania and of office in Finland are compared with Lithuanian and Finnish Regulations and Guidelines. Furthermore, Lithuanian and Finnish requirements are compared.
