Mental disorders are common and various mental disorders often appear in people as early as in youth. One of five young people suffers from a mental health disorder in Finland. Even more common is that a young person has a variety of mental symptoms, such as depression. The Nature Voucher operations model is a way for a municipality in Kainuu to prevent young people's mental health problems in co-operation with the municipality, the parish and non-profit association. The model offers targeted activities in the natural environment directed to the preventive services of the municipality and the parish, which also provides support to the employee through a new kind of work in pair. The purpose of the research was to describe the usability of the Nature Voucher model as experienced by the employees of educational work and to find out how the employees evaluate the effects of the operating model on the life situation of a young person (11–17 years old). In addition, the purpose was to describe need of future development the model that arise with the employees' user experiences. The aim is to develop a Nature Voucher model based on the results obtained in the research. The information obtained can also be used if the municipality, the parish and non-profit association establish the operating model as a permanent way of preventing young people's mental health problems. A total of five (N=5) municipal and parish employees responded to the survey. They had used the voucher with a total of 13 (n=13) young people, as each employee had been able to use the Nature Voucher with several young people. A total of nine responses to the questionnaire were received (n=9). The employees felt that the Nature Voucher model brought a new kind of content to their work. Utilizing the model helped to find a new perspective on the work as well as a new kind of con-tent. The employees perceived the change in the operating environment as positive. Nature- and animal-assisted guided activities were considered to have a positive effect on a young person. The employees felt that the guided activity caused positive emotions in the young person. Functional exercises were also considered to have a positive effect on the young person. The employees saw that the model had contributed to the strengthening of the young person's relationship with nature. The activities brought the nature experience into the young person's life. The activity was seen as a potential method for remedial youth work as well. The employees thought that the model could be part of special care of young people. In addition, the model was considered to have increased the young person's motivation to go to school. Young people's own experiences of the activities were positive. The guardians felt that they had a positive attitude towards the participation. Employees' views on the operations model and its impact on the lives of young people, as well as the development ideas received from them, can contribute to the continuation of the activities. The model can be developed by mapping associations where Green Care activities are implemented in the area.
