Ground is the reference point in an electrical circuit from which voltages are measured, a common return path for electrical current. Grounding is important for people safety and buildings, where it can limit the voltage that can appear on distribution circuits. In electrical power distribution systems, a protective ground conductor is an essential part of safety grounding systems.

This thesis aim studying grounding in new buildings and renovation buildings. Corporation interest for grounding, that they wanted more specific information and that I can learn more knowledge for planning groundings. Sähkönero Oy doing electrical planning, electrical installations, electrical maintenance ser-vices and 24/7h service.

First I review theory and basics for grounding in low voltage. Second I review grounding in new buildings what contain grounding systems, potential equali-zation, earth conductor, low voltage distribution station, antenna grounding and different kind connectors. Last I review what changes you must do in ren-ovation buildings grounding viewpoint.

Information in this thesis is founded on books and standards. I haven’t used any internet sources, which is not reliable information source. I founded couple good books what tells lots of grounding and what regarding grounding.
