The purpose of this portfolio is to introduce the reader into the processes of acquiring a Pilot Exemption Certificate in both Finnish and Swedish archipelagic areas. This thesis work was implemented in a Finnish passenger-ferry company Viking Line, particularly onboard M/S Viking Glory. This portfolio was carried out in my own perspective, as how I would approach the different exams and tests included in the PEC process. The scope of this portfolio is to cover the main parts of PEC evaluation, methods to use in training for the parts and how I proceeded to implement the methods to gain sufficient knowledge in the evaluation.
