The subject of my bachelor´s thesis is creating an illustrated recipe booklet for children. The whole booklet was made independently. The sponsor organisation was the 4H Organisation of Savonlinna. The goal of the work was to combine my own interests with doing a project-related thesis and to become more familiar with the process of making a recipe booklet.

The central themes of the booklet are varying food recipes and food cultures from around the world. The chosen countries and continents for the booklet are The Great Britain, France, Switzerland & Austria, Italy, Greece, Russia, Africa, India, China, Thailand, Japan, Mexico, Middle and South America and the USA. There are 54 food recipes in the booklet which I tested and chose myself. I have made one illustrated picture for every country/continent in the booklet. The booklet has 59 pages. The booklet has been made in co-operation with the 4H Organisation of Savonlinna, the graphic designer Risto Tuunanen and the printing company Keuruun laatupaino (KLP Oy).

The subjects of the bachelor’s thesis are food cultures of the chosen countries, the development of the abilities, thinking, understanding and social skills of 7–11 year-old children, the Sapere-method and development in the food customs of children. I have tried to include all these components in the process of making the booklet.
