Opinnäytetyön tavoitteena on HyvinvointiTV:n lääkärivastaanoton prosessin mallintaminen. Tavoitteena on myös verrata HyvinvointiTV-vastaanoton prosessia perinteisen vastaanoton prosessiin sekä pohtia prosessimallinnuksen soveltuvuutta hyvinvointipalvelun kuvaamiseen.

HyvinvointiTV:n palvelukonsepti perustuu vuorovaikutteisen kuvayhteyden avulla tuotettaviin ohjelmiin, jotka tukevat asiakkaan hyvinvointia. HyvinvointiTV on osa Turvallinen Koti -hanketta ja sen toteutuksesta vastaavat Laurea-ammattikorkeakoulu ja Turun ammattikorkeakoulu. Prosessimallinnus on havainnollisuutensa ansiosta erinomainen viestinnän väline.Kehittämistyössä sitä voidaan hyödyntää prosessin kriittisten toimintojen tunnistamiseen ja suorituskyvyn tutkimiseen.

Tutkimusmenetelmänä käytettiin teemahaastattelua. Prosessien mallintaminen toteutettiin QPR ProcessGuide -ohjelmiston avulla. Prosessit jaettiin kolmeen osaprosessiin, jotta ne olisivat selkeitä ja helpommin vertailtavissa. Prosessien taustatiedot sekä osaprosessien kestot ja kustannukset esitettiin taulukkoina.

Perinteiseen lääkärivastaanottoon verrattuna HyvinvointiTV vastaanoton prosessista puuttuvat fyysisen tutkimisen sekä vastaanotolle matkustamisen toiminnot. Asiakkaan näkökulmasta HyvinvointiTV-vastaanoton prosessi oli kestoltaan lyhyempi ja kustannuksiltaan pienempi. Terveydenhuollon palveluntarjoajan kannalta prosessien kestoissa ja kustannuksissa ei ollut merkittäviä eroja. Vaikka prosessimallinnukset voitiin toteuttaa vain melko karkealla tasolla, niiden avulla havaittiin prosessien kriittiset toiminnot ja eroavaisuudet. Prosessimallinnus soveltuu siis myös HyvinvointiTV:n kaltaisen hyvinvointipalvelun kuvaamiseen.

Process Modelling: Case Doctor’s Appointment in CaringTV

The objective of the thesis is to create a process model of a doctor’s appointment in CaringTV and to compare it with the process of the traditional doctor’s appointment. The other objective is to debate the usability of process modelling in welfare services.

CaringTV's concept is based on interactive programs that support the well-being of clients. CaringTV is a part of the Safe Home project. Laurea and Turku Universities of Applied Sciences are responsible for its implementation. Because of their graphicness, process models are an excellent communication tool. Process modelling can also be used for recognising the critical activities of the process and for analysing the performance of the process.

Theme interview was chosen as a research method. Process modelling was executed with the QPR ProcessGuide software. The processes were divided into three subprocesses in order to be more easily understood and compared. The background information of the processes as well as the duration and the expenses of the subprocesses were presented as charts.

Compared to the process of the traditional doctor’s appointment, the process of an appointment in CaringTV did not include the activities of physical examination and travelling. From the client’s perspective the process of a doctor’s appointment in CaringTV was shorter and the expenses were lower. For the provider of the healthcare services there were no remarkable differences in duration or costs between the processes. Although the process models could be represented only on a moderate level of detail, they were useful tools for finding the critical activities of the processes and the differences between them. Therefore, process modelling could be a useful method also for other welfare services.
