Tämä opinnäytetyö käsittelee käyttäjätutkimusta työvoimanhallintajärjestelmä Timeplanistä. Timeplan sisältää omat käyttöliittymänsä esimiehille ja muille työntekijöille. Tämän opinnäytetyön tavoitteena on tutkia Timeplanin nykyistä tilaa ja löytää kehitysideoita. Työssä esitellään käyttäjien puolen käyttöliittymä kuvien kanssa ja tutustutaan palvelun nykyisiin toimintoihin. Työn aikana esitellään käyttäjätutkimukseen soveltuvia menetelmiä ja perustellaan valitut menetelmät. Käyttäjätutkimuksen menetelmiksi valikoituivat haastattelu ja kyselylomake. Tutkimuksen tulokset jakautuvat kahteen osaan, sillä käyttöliittymät ja käyttötarkoitukset ovat erilaisia. Yhteenvetona voidaan todeta, että esimiesten ja tavallisten käyttäjien osalta tulokset olivat varsin samankaltaisia. Molempien puolien käyttäjät olivat kohtuullisen tyytyväisiä Timeplanin nykyiseen tilaan ajoittaista hitautta lukuun ottamatta. Molempien puolien käyttöliittymästä löytyi kuitenkin tilaa kehittämiselle ja uusille toiminnoille. Timeplanin käyttämisen kannalta käyttäjien aktiivisuus on oleellisen tärkeää, mikä korostui käyttäjätutkimuksen molemmilla puolilla. Tutkimuksesta kävi myös ilmi, että käyttäjät eivät ole täysin tietoisia kaikista ominaisuuksista. Hyvän käyttäjäkokemuksen takaamiseksi Timeplaniin tarvittaisiin käyttäjille ohjeistukset toiminnoista, palvelussa käytettävien värikoodien selkeytystä. Asiantuntijapuolella suurimmat tarpeet uusille työkaluille liittyivät raportointiin ja massatyökaluihin.

This bachelor’s thesis covers a user research of a workforce management software Timeplan. The goal of this bachelor’s thesis was to find out the current state of Timeplan and how it should be developed. Timeplan consists of two user interfaces, one for managers and one for employees. The user interface of the employees will be introduced with pictures and the current functions will be explained. This bachelor’s thesis will introduce some methods of a user study and rationalize the chosen methods. The methods for user study were interview and an online inquiry. The results of the user research is divided into two parts since the use of the user interfaces are very different. As a summary of the user research, it can be said that the managers and the employees are moderately satisfied with the current situation excluding the slowness of the system. However, the user interfaces can still be developed. During the research it was found out that the activity of the users is essential. The best benefit from Timeplan can be achieved only if the users are active. The research also showed that the users are not fully aware of all the features in Timeplan. To ensure a good user experience with Timeplan, the employees should be given instructions for the features and a legend for the color-coding. In the managers’ user interface two major areas of the development were tools for reporting and controlling big amounts of users.
