The changes in population structure cause a challenge in developing economic life and create new jobs in the Upper Savo area. The aim of this developing project was to find out how the knowledge and skillsof students who have vocational qualification in business and administration differ from the requirements of the working places. Answers to the research task were sought by interviewing nine different representatives of Upper Savo enterprises. The interviews were made in spring 2006. According to the results of this developing project, the knowledge and skills of the students who have vocational qualification in business and administration meet the requirements of the working places. The representatives were quite pleased with the knowledge and skills of the students who have vocational qualification in business and administration. On the basis of the small sampling, it is not possible to draw conclutions how well the requirements of working life and qualification meet. Interviews revealed some wishes concerning personnel training. Besides some matters which should be focused on during the studies came up. Language skills and general rules in business life such as good manners were highlighted in many various situations. The representatives of the companies considered the interviews positive.
