Tämä on toiminnallinen opinnäytetyö, Kielten rikas maailma -projekti. Opinnäytetyö on tehty yhteistyössä Pietarsaaren varhaiskasvatusyksikköön. Tarkoituksena oli kehittää ja tukea ryhmään satuhetkiä, jotka tukevat lasten kielellisisä taitoja sekä valtakunnallisen varhaiskasvatussuunnitelman oppimisen osa-aluetta Kielten rikas maailma. Toiminnallinen opinnäytetyö toteutettiin neljänä satuhetki- interventiona, joiden tarkoituksena oli vahvistaa lapsen kielellisiä taitoja ja valmiuksia sekä kielellisen identiteetin kehittymistä.

Lapsille mahdollistettiin vaikuttaminen ja osallistuminen. He arvioivat interventiot ja kertoivat mistä pitivät ja mistä eivät. Lapset ilmaisivat mielipiteensä haastattelulla sekä tunnemittarin avulla. Interventiot prosessoin Pienin askelin -lomakkeella. Sen avulla nostettiin esiin lasten mielipide sekä toiminnan suunnitelman tavoitteet sekä onnistuminen. Prosessointi tuki myös ryhmätyöskentelyä ja satuhetkien suunnittelua ja toteutusta jatkossa ryhmään.

Interventioissa keskityttiin kielen kehityksen viiteen osa-alueeseen: puheen tuottamiseen, kielellinen muisti ja sanavarastoon, kielen ymmärtämisen taitoihin, vuorovaikutustaitoihin ja kielen käyttötaitoihin. Interventiot tiivistin neljään toimintakertaan ja lisäsin yhteen interventioon vielä varhaiskasvatussuunnitelman laaja-alaisen oppimisen alueelta osion monilukutaito sekä tieto- ja viestintä-teknologinen osaaminen.

Keskeisenä tietoperustana on pedagogiikan osalta kielen kehitys, osallisuus ja vuorovaikutus sosiaalipedagogiikan näkökulmasta.

Toteutin interventiot kaksi kertaa viikossa eli projekti kesti kaksi viikkoa. Interventioiden tiiviin aikataulun perusteluina oli ohjaajan kanssa käyty pohdinta siitä, kuinka tiivis työskentelyaikataulu tukisi lasten osallistumista toimintaan ja ryhmäytymistä, kun edelliset interventiot ovat heillä vielä tuoreessa muistissa. Kevään aikana hyödynnettiin projektin materiaalia pedagogisen toiminnan suunnittelussa, kun yksikön varhaiskasvatusryhmässä toteutettiin kielen kehityksen viikko.

This is a practice-based thesis, The Rich World of Languages -project. The thesis has been carried out in cooperation with the early childhood education unit of Pietarsaari. The aim was to develop various storytelling moments in the group to support children's linguistic skills and the teaching aspect of the national early childhood education and care plan The Rich World of Languages. The project was carried out as four storytelling interventions aimed at strengthening the child's linguistic skills and competences and the development of linguistic identity. Children were given the possibility to influence and participate. The children expressed their opinions through an interview and an emotional survey. Interventions are processed using a so-called Small Steps form, which highlighted the children's opinions, and the objectives of the action plan and its success. The processing also supported group work and planning and implementation of storytelling moments for the group in the future.

The author adapted the plans for the project's interventions from the Board of Education's materials the Rich World of Languages. The intervention focused on five aspects of language development: speech production, linguistic memory and vocabulary, language comprehension skills, interaction skills, language skills. Unlike the original plan, the author intensified interventions four times and added multi-literacy and ICT skills to one intervention in the area of extensive learning in the early childhood education and care plan.

The theoretical background of this project includes the National Core Curriculum for Early Childhood Education and Care, language development, and social pedagogy. The project summarised the implementation of the interventions twice a week, and the project lasted two weeks. During the spring, the material of the project was utilised in the planning of pedagogical activities, when the group implemented a week of language development.
