En trippel ABC – analys på K-Supermarket Karis – Karjaas ostavdelning

It is a major challenge for any companies to be able to meet the consumer preferences in today’s world. The grocery stores are also affected, because customers expect a wide range of fresh products at a reasonable price. K-Supermarket Karis-Karjaa, that is commissioning this thesis, is also a grocery store that is facing the challenge. For the moment, K-Supermarket Karis-Karjaa does not know which products are laying on the shelves for too long, are unattractive for the customers and are uneconomical. The purpose with this thesis is to map all products belonging to the cheese department and find the cheeses that have a high sales profit and inventory turnover, using a triple ABC-analysis, and then be able to come up with recommendations. In order for a business to be profitable, the revenue has to be greater than the cost, which implies that the sales profit is high enough. However, it requires that there are products for sale as well as stock levels are properly so that unnecessary capital is not tied up in inventory. Triple ABC-analysis is based on Pareto's 80/20 rule, where the principle is that 20 % of the products are responsible for 80 % of the results, when using a triple analysis, three criteria are used to get a more useful result. In order to map and accomplish a triple ABC-analysis the data used in this case is from K-Supermarket Karis-Karjaa own IT-system. Since this is a case study of qualitative character, the results is described with words instead of numbers, and a more unrestricted structure is used. Based on the results of the triple ABC-analysis with the following criteria, sales profit percentage, inventory turnover and sales gain in euro, are various measures recommended for K-Supermarket Karis-Karjaa so that the store could improve their business.
