Detta examensarbete är en produktutveckling för Lovisa stads hemvård. Syftet med ex-amensarbetet är att skapa en patientbroschyr riktad till äldre patienter som använder lä-kemedlet Marevan®. Tidigare forskning visar att det finns brister i patienthandledning-en och att skriftlig patientinformation är svårläst. Speciellt äldre patienter har dålig kun-skap om Marevan® och har högre risk för att drabbas av komplikationer. En god pati-enthandledning minskar risken för komplikationer och ökar patientens trygghetskänsla. De centrala frågeställningarna i examensarbetet är vad man bör beakta då man skapar skriftligt material för äldre patienter och vilken information som ska ingå i en patient-broschyr om Marevan®. För att svara på frågorna har redan befintliga patientbroschyrer och vetenskapliga artiklar analyserats. Den huvudsakliga metoden för examensarbetet är en induktiv innehållsanalys. Sjukskötare som arbetar inom Lovisa stads hemvård har också haft möjlighet att påverka broschyrens utformning och innehåll för att den ska motsvara deras egna och deras klienters behov. Slutprodukten är en lättläst kortfattad patientbroschyr som innehåller information om läkemedlet Marevan®, användning, dosering, uppföljning, biverkningar, samverkan med andra mediciner och kost samt kontaktuppgifter till den egna sjukskötaren.

This thesis is a product development for the homecare in the city of Loviisa. The aim of the thesis is to create a patient brochure for elderly patients who are using the medication Marevan®. Previous research shows that there are deficiencies in patient education and patient information is written at high readability levels. Especially elderly patients have poor knowledge about Marevan® and a higher risk of complications. A good patient edu-cation reduces the risk of complications and increases the patient´s feeling of safety. The key issues in this thesis are what to pay attention to when creating written material for elderly patients and what information should be included in a patient brochure about Marevan®. To answer these questions existing patient brochures and scientific articles have been analyzed. The main method of this thesis is an inductive content analysis. Nurses working in the homecare of Loviisa have also had possibilities to influence the design and content of the brochure to meet their and their patient´s needs. The final product is an easy-to-read concise patient brochure containing information about the medication Marevan®, how to use, dosage, monitoring, side effects, interaction with other medications and diet and also contact information to their own nurse.
