The aim for the Thesis was to design and implement a more efficient time management system for an electrical engineering company. Making time management more efficient is achieved by replacing the previously used paper sheet with wireless mobile devices which transmit the information to a database. The used mobile devices are palmtops which use a wireless LAN for data transfer inside the office and a GSM cellphone network when outside. The system was composed from several separate software parts which proved to be a mistake because the different user interfaces and differing features made the use difficult. When measuring the work efficiency it was found out that using the new system slowed down the time management tasks instead of improving them. This is partly because inflexible software parts were used instead of a commercial groupware package.
