Powered pedestrian doors help our everyday life. They have become very popular especially in public buildings. Door drives are used in places where the amount of the people traveling through the door is at the maximum. That is why the personnel safety of the door drives has to be concerned very carefully. Making door drives safe cause’s lots of demands to product development. The aim of this master’s thesis was to clarify valid regulations for door operators in Germany and forecast the affect of the future European pedestrian door standard to the door drives. Study was defined to handle swing door drives. Other equipments in the door environment were left out of inspection. Door environment, its parts and the door drive designing standards are discussed. The work also focuses to the Deutsches Institut für Normung (DIN) 18650 standard. At the end of the thesis conformity of the sample swing door drive is evaluated and solutions are presented to achieve the conformity.
