Höyrylaiva Bore II -laivamalli; pienoismalli; Steamship Bore II model; ship model

A ship model of the steamship S/S Bore II. The steel-hulled passenger ship was built in 1938 at the Crichton-Vulcan shipyard in Turku, Finland. Originally its planned purpose was to carry passengers at the 1940 Summer Olympics in Helsinki. Due to the postponement of the Olympics, Bore II served only on the passenger line between Turku and Stockholm in 1939 before it was pulled out of traffic for the duration of the Second World War. After the war the ship was handed over to the Soviet Union as part of Finland’s war reparations. It was renamed Petrodvoretz and relocated to the Black Sea in 1947. The ship was removed from the ship register in 1973 and presumably demolished.

The model is painted in the colours of the Turku-based Ångfartygs Ab Bore shipping company, which was the ship’s original owner.
