This thesis was commissioned by Triuvare Oy. The main purpose was to find out a system that automates the installation process of new workstations as much as possible. The system was also intended to relieve employees’ time for other tasks, as the manual workstation installation took too much time.

Tools such as Windows Deployment Service (WDS) and Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT) were utilized as part of the installation process automation. Automating post installs was done by tools such as Ninite, HP and Lenovo’s driver programs, as well as my own scripts.

After the introduction of the new system, new workstations have not been installed anymore manually and the time employees spend installing the workstations has been significantly reduced. Only customer specified settings must be customized manually.

This thesis contains also a manual of how to maintenance the system and update the base images, which allows every technical employee to keep the system and images up to date. The manual is confidential and censored from this report.
