This cover the different stages of organizing an architectural competition among students and the results of the competition. The target plot for the project is located in Jyväskylä, Korteniitty. A plan proposal was made for ten terraced houses, utilizing the results from the ideas competition. The thesis was commissioned by the company Nordica Construction.

The program ArchiCAD 21/22 was used to make the design. The competition was idea based and its goal was to get new, fresh and executable ideas for the terraced house project. Five participants who completed the project took part in the competition. Using the work of the participants, Nordica Construction received a completed design proposal. The basis for the design work was the analysis of population development and the need for housing in Jyväskylä. Also, the city plan of Korteniitty area and its layout, the current environment of the plot and the city's views on the future of the area were analyzed. The competition evaluation criteria were based on housing trends, conversion flexibility and efficient utilization of the plot. These values also served as a basis for further planning.

The topics for the thesis include the different stages of organizing the architectural competition, the participants’ work and their analysis. In addition to these, ready-made plan proposals are also presented. These include an illustrative layout drawing and reference floor plans. Different stages of the ideas competition and its possible use in construction projects are explained.
