Preparing a child to the cardiological examination reduces a child's fears and anxiousness. It is easier to conduct examinations when he knows what is happening and he is calm. The purpose of this study was to produce a guide to one of finnish hospital how family and a 0-6 age year old child could prepare to cardiological visit. The aim of this study was that family can read the guide at home and they receive information about examinations.

The guide was written in the form of a story. The story tells about a little girl who is going to a heart examinations to hospital. In this story there are pictures from the hospital and examinations. A child's heart examination consists of the measurements of height, weight and blood pressure, electrocardiogram examination and ultrasonography of the heart.

Family receives a letter of invitation to the hospital and there is a link to the internet guide. The issues concerning what kind of a guide is informative, what kind of examinations are performed in the cardiological visit of a child and how family can prepare themselves to the admission are dealt with in the theory part of the study.
