This thesis deals with different kinds of tasks and requirements, which are essential in the supervi-sion of construction with prefabricated units. It will be explained exhaustively what a construction supervisor in charge of the assembly of prefabricated elements needs to know and be able to han-dle. Also the needs of development for the supervisors were taken into account in this work.

Field study for the diploma work was obtained in a construction site where two apartment buildings were under construction. At the site observation was focused particularly on how the elements are mounted – from a supervisor’s point of view – and also the tasks associated with the mounting itself were examined thoroughly. A rudiment sales calculator, that allowed the facilitation and an-ticipation of the workload, was also contrived along with the regular supervision tasks.

The results suggest that a supervisor in charge of the element construction ought to be well ex-perienced, flexible and logical; and all of the supervisors working on a construction site are sup-posed to have the basic knowledge how the mounting of the prefabricated units is carried out. The most important aspect of further educating the supervisors lies especially in sufficient profit re-sponsible end-result.

The thesis provides with the basic information of prefabricated element construction as well as some ideas how to improve it in the future. The work is applicable for construction supervisors who need knowledge of the process in practice and in theory.
