MEANING OF THE PURSUIT OF PEER-SUPPORT TO THE FAMILIES IN SATAKUNTA AUTISM-, ADHD- AND DYSPHASYASSOCIATION (SAMDY)

The subject of this thesis was to describe what is meaning of Samdy to give peer-support to the parents. The purpose of this study was to get information from families how their everyday life was working and how adequate was the peer-support of Samdy they offer to the families. This thesis was made in co-ordination with Autism-, ADHD- and Dysphasy-association of Satakunta. (Samdy)

The data were gathered with questionnaires to the members of Samdy. This study executed with questionnaires and it was aimed at ADHD-members families in this tripartite-association. In this study there was answers 33 families from 96 families (34%).

This study indicates that families experienced relevant the pursuit of peer-support with Samdy. Families were most satisfied associations activities and as well information level about what they need by Samdy. In the future there is need for more communication with association and families. Families were satisfied with activities and happenings that association offered although they needed to organized more activities and happenings in the future. Especially in Rauma and elsewhere in Satakunta there were need to organize more activities and happenings.
