The purpose of this thesis was to research which of the traffic companies operating in sparsely populated areas within Satakunta would be willing to work in project collaboration with Satakunta University of Applied Sciences. This research serves as a preliminary research about the collaboration between traffic companies and Satakunta University of Applied Sciences in personnel traffic projects.

Research started with inquiries to authorities that are currently ordering personnel traffic services in sparsely populated areas within Satakunta. This query contained questions about which traffic companies are they currently ordering personnel traffic services from. Based on these inquiries all respected traffic companies were contacted and interviewed. In the interviews the companies were asked both qualita-tive and open questions.

Interviews were performed either with telephone or by online surveys. Surveys and telephone interviews contained questions about the current state of personnel traffic in sparsely populated areas within Satakunta and about the possibility of collabora-tion with Satakunta University of Applied Sciences.

A total of ten (10) individuals from separate traffic companies participated for the survey. The result of this research was that eight (8) traffic companies would be will-ing to collaborate in personnel traffic projects with Satakunta University of Applied Sciences. In the future Satakunta University of Applied Sciences will have easier time to develop more functional, effective and user-friendly personnel traffic services for their province.
