Puuvilla lastenvaatemateriaalina : case: Pumpkin Aarrekid Collection - neulosten testaaminen

In this thesis the main issue was to make a test for the Aarrekid Collection textiles, and to go through the manufacturing and features of the research tests were made at textile laboratory of the Lahti University of Applied Sciences. This thesis was made in collaboration with Pumpkin Aarrekid Collection.

In the first theory part of this thesis the focus is on the history of cotton. Then the focus will be moved to the processing of cotton fiber and the differences between cotton and organic cotton’s manufacturing stages. The most interesting difference between cotton and organic cotton is how cotton gets the name organic cotton. The second part of the theory focuses on the EU-Flower and the Öko-Tex standards. One of the questions which will be discussed is what companies have to focus on if they want to get the EU-Flower or the Öko-Tex standard.

In the research part I tested children’s clothes of Arrekid Collection in different ways, in a textile laboratory. The tests were made to find out if there are any differences between these fabrics and if there is a difference then what might be. The study seemed to indicate differences between the fabrics were minimal.
