In my thesis I studied memories and the relations that they have with objects, more precisely with jewelry, and how memories affect the relation between a man and jewelry. For my study I made an interview in which I mapped out the memories of my family and friends and their attitude towards good and bad memories. With the help of these interviews I wrote about memories from my own view point. I also studied a bit of the history connected to the sentimental jewelry. Based on my findings I created a sentimental jewelry piece that is meant for everyday use. The jewelry works as a instrument of remembrance and bringer of comfort. As materials I used human hair which is very typical for sentimental jewelry. Other materials were gold and silver from precious metals, and resin. For the stone setting, I used peridot. Film photography worked throughout the thesis as a source of inspiration, method of documentation as well as in the photography of the final piece. There is a strong sense of remembrance in photos that I have also treated in my thesis.
