The objective of this thesis was to design and develop a mobile application for Pomolle.fi service. Pomolle.fi is an hour, expense and kilometer reporting system developed by Silmu Software. The mobile application will allow the use of native features of mobile devices for the service’s future development.

The thesis overviews different methods for developing mobile applications and the differences between them. Hybrid application development with Ionic framework is discussed in more detail. In addition, the thesis reviews technologies used for creating a server interface used by the mobile application.

The application developed during the thesis is functional, and the planned features were implemented. For further development the application’s support for offline use could be improved, and also the use of a mobile device’s positioning features when creating reports could be utilized. The application will be tested by the client and after that released to customers.
