This thesis sorts out the activities, challenges and future goals in the field of dance in Central Finland. The purpose in this study is to offer proposals for action in Keski Suomen Tanssin Keskus ry, which corresponds to the activities of Sisä-Suomen tanssin aluekeskus in Central Finland. Keski Suomen Tanssin Keskus contributes to the availability of dance in Central Finland and supports the employment of the dance professionals in this area. The base for the proposals for action is inspired by the strategy of Keski-Suomen Tanssin Keskus for 2010 to 2015. This thesis has been carried out by examining the strategy of the organization and interviewing the four dance experts. The client of this thesis is Keski-Suomen Tanssin Keskus.

Work is a functional study, and it is composed of the presentation of Keski-Suomen Tanssin Keskus, review of dance and dance field in Finland, and the general view of strategy work. Research section of the work consists of the qualitative research principles, which take place at work as a case study. Consultation has been carried out semi-structured interview. The experts were selected for interviews carefully with discernment. They represent the author of Keski-Suomen Tanssin Keskus and strategy work team, strategy work team and dancer, dance and cultural expert and freelance dancer. By this research results there is concrete developing proposals for action in Keski-Suomen Tanssin Keskus and the field of dance in Central Finland.

Suggested activities correspond to Keski-Suomen Tanssin Keskus's strategy and they are derived from the expert interviews. The proposals can be carried out to achieve a significant improvement in Central Finland’s dance scene. In addition, Thesis, create new business models in Keski-Suomen Tanssin Keskus and valued the association's activities. In the proposals there has regard the organisations work for the years 2010 - 2012 and proposals for action takes account the work of for over longer period of development targets. This thesis in counted by the weight it puts on Keski-Suomen Tanssin Keskus’s strategy and is also an example of the development of dance field in Finland.
