New employees' orientation from the perspective of socialization process. Case: Oy Veikkaus Ab.

The aim of this research is to develop new employee orientation from the perspective of the socialization process. The research is carried out in Oy Veikkaus Ab and the information is obtained from thematic interviews with 17 new employees. In these interviews, their opinions and experiences about orientation and socialization is gathered. The socialization process expands the concept of orientation and changes its meaninig to organization. Many of the interviewees think that other people and social interaction are important to adaptation. Also, in the socialization process, new employees need to adapt to a new job, group and a new organization. All of these should be take account in orientation. Due to interviews, it seems like orientation in Veikkaus at this moment is inconstant. In the future, key development targets are planning means that agreed with socialization and coordinate both new employee dissimilarity and extraordinary situation in organization.
