Väestön ikärakenteen vanhenemisen takia kysyntä esteettömille ympäristöille ja palveluille kasvaa huomattavaa vauhtia. Yksi palvelu, joka tarjoaa tietoa esteettömästä suunnittelusta, on ARAn ylläpitämä ARVI-tietokanta. ARVI-tietokanta on kuitenkin monille tuntematon, eikä sen sisältämää tietoainesta pidetä luotettavana.

Tämän diplomityö tarkoitus on selvittää kuinka nykyisen ARVI-tietokannan tietoaines saataisiin paremmin palvelua käyttävien ihmisten käyttöön ja kuinka tämä materiaali saadaan tukemaan rakennusluvan ja ARAn rahoituksen hakua. Diplomityön aikana rakennetaan useita tietokoneella luotuja prototyyppejä, joita testataan käytettävyystesteillä. Näiden testien aikana selvitetään myös kuinka prototyyppejä voidaan käyttää saamaan testikäyttäjiltä parempaa palautetta ja enemmän ideoita käytettävyystestien aikana.

Because the age structure is getting older in Finland, demand for accessible environments and services is growing at an accelerating pace. One service that provides information about accessibility is the ARVI database, which is operated by ARA. The ARVI database is unknown to many and its data is regarded as unreliable.

The aim of this study is to examine how the information the current ARVI database holds could better service the people who would benefit from it and how this material could be used to support the application of building permits and funding from ARA. During the thesis a number of computer-generated prototypes will be built which will be tested with usability testing. How prototypes can be used to get better feedback and more ideas from test users during usability tests will also be examined during the tests.
