A ship model of the steamship S/S Ariana. The steel-hulled cargo vessel was built in 1953 in West Hartlepool, UK, for the Hans von Rettig shipping company based in Turku, Finland. The Ariana operated on a line to South America while never visiting its ports of registry in Finland. In 1969 the ship was renamed Virna. In 1976 the ship was renamed Beatrix before it suffered an accident and was demolished the by the end of the same year.
The model is painted in the colours of the Hans von Rettig shipping company. The port of registry on the model is Turku, and the Finnish flag is flying on the pole in the stern.
