The objective of this thesis was to create a block plan for Lamminrahka, a city district of Kangasala. A new residential and commercial property is to be built with the co-operation of the cities of Tampere and Kangasala. The client for the thesis was the zoning department of Kangasala. The plan was made using the preliminary urban area development plan as the guideline.

First, urban planning in general was studied. To create a pleasant urban surrounding the area was considered as a whole and its history was studied. In addition to land usage and functionality, economic and sociological aspects needed to be taken in to account as well. The designs were made with ArchiCad 23.

The result of this thesis was the block plan which includes a site plan, an indicative floor plan, pictures of the block façade and other visualisations. The block plan was used as one of the tools by the zoning department of the city of Kangasala to help in the planning stage of the urban area development of Lamminrahka.
