Sairaanhoitaja elvytyskouluttajana : Koulutuspäivä maallikkoelvytyksestä ISS Palvelut Oy:lle

Identification of lifelessness, an emergency notification and CPR+D (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation + Defibrillation) are basic skills of every citizen. Effectiveness of CRP+D depends on the time between the first symptoms of lifelessness and the beginning of CPR+D. Immediate actions, including an emergency call and CPR+D must be taken when a life-threatening situation is recognized. To maintain required skills, guided training must be undergone on a regular basis with realistic training equipment. The purpose was improving ISS Palvelut Ltd. personnel’s readiness to act when encountering a lifeless person on a M19 Campus of Lahti University of Applied Sciences. ISS provides facility, lobby, catering and postal services for M19 campus which are one of the busiest places on the whole campus. To achieve the goal, a training day was held in the autumn 2019. Both training the day and educational material were the tools and concrete products which can be utilized in the future. Secondary purposes were improving our educational and counselling skills. Those skills are main competences on a registered nurse’s skill profile. The training day contained an educational briefing on the topic, CPR+D, and an actual training with training dummies and a training defibrillator. Constant guidance and feedback to trainees were given. After that feedback was collected with a question form (individually) and orally with group members. Each workshop lasted one and a half hours and 4 groups containing 28 participants were trained in total. The immediate feedback was overall positive, and the training was found necessary. For further development a few issues were addressed. Because the CPR+D skills require constant training; the target organization must have a plan to train their personnel’s frequently. Secondly ISS Palvelut organization is minor when compared to the rest of M19 Campus community. It would be necessary to survey CPR+D skills of the personnel of other organizations working on the campus and assign them a necessary training based on the findings if needed.
