This bachelorś thesis is a part of the project “Framtidens sjukskötare - är det du?” at Novia University of Applied Sciences in Turku. The project is carried out in cooperation with Sjuksköterske-föreningen i Åboland rf. 2020 is declared by WHO as the year of the nurses to emphasize the importance of nurses in our society. This thesis, which is a part of the project, is based on the nursing education, nursing profession and visions of the future. The outcome of this thesis is a presentation, which will be presented to practical nursing students to enlighten them about nursing education and nursing profession. The purpose of this project is to present a realistic and positive image of the actual tasks of the nursing profession and visions of the future. The questions for this thesis are the following: What is positive about the nursing profession? Which are the visions of the future of the nursing profession? What do nursing students know about the nursing education and the nursing profession? The method applied in this thesis is a general literature review. The literature will be used as a base for developing a presentation and an evaluation survey. With the help of the presentation and the evaluation of the survey, the authors of this thesis will analyze if the practical nurse students already knew about the nursing education and nursing profession, also, their interest in the area. Furthermore, the authors will clarify if the presentation increased their knowledge about the profession and their interest in the nursing profession. The results from the literature review show that the nursing profession is a versatile profession and the future within healthcare have unlimited possibilities. The evaluation of the survey reveals that practical nursing students already had an interest in and knowledge about the nursing education and nursing profession. The practical nursing students' interest in and knowledge about the nursing education and nursing profession increased with the presentation.
