Newsreel 287 of February 1956 shows a single topic: the return of Porkkala to Finland. Finnish troops marching into Porkkala headland on 26 January after the transfer protocol has been signed in Helsinki. The lease period of Porkkala that lasted over ten years has ended. The following day, 430 members of the press in 100 cars, including some 100 foreign radio commentators and film and television reporters and journalists, arrive in the area. This newsreel shows the first impressions of wintry Porkkala as the Soviets left it.
